Site Assessment

Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) are performed to assist the prospective property owner in fulfilling EPA’s All Appropriate Inquiry requirements to qualify for CERCLA innocent landowner defenses. During a Phase I ESA, Geotech evaluates information obtained from historical records, maps, interviews, regulatory records, and a site reconnaissance to determine whether a site may be contaminated from on-site or off-site sources. Geotech presents this information in a report with our conclusions and recommendations for the site. Should the Phase I ESA indicate a high potential for chemical contamination, a Phase II ESA may be recommended to identify if chemical contamination is present by sampling subsurface soil and/or groundwater.
