Mr. Casteel was previously employed by two other firms in the Des Moines area for 15 years prior to starting Geotech Engineering & Observation. Mr. Casteel has been responsible for hiring and general management of field engineers and engineering technicians for construction quality control. He has managed construction quality control projects involving IBC special inspections ranging in size from large commercial to residential. The management duties included estimating project budgets and monitoring these budgets during construction, attending project meetings, and reviewing IBC special inspection reports. Mr. Casteel has also performed engineering analyses on several projects involving paving, mezzanines, soil subgrades, and other specialized areas.

Mr. Brocka was previously employed by another firm in the Des Moines area for 11 years prior to starting Geotech Engineering & Observation in 2005. Mr. Brocka’s geotechnical project assignments include geotechnical analyses for buildings, parking ramps, streets, bridges, retaining structures, water and waste water treatment plants, slopes, lagoons, ponds, and dams. Other activities involve evaluation and remedial recommendations for settlement and heaving problems along with landslides. Responsibilities include preparing proposals, preparing geotechnical reports for public and private works, reviewing geotechnical reports, directing field explorations, performing and interpreting in-situ tests, supervising laboratory testing, slope stability analyses, and classifying soils.

Professional Background

Ms. Mager has worked in the Des Moines area for 8 years prior to joining Geotech Engineering & Observation in August 2006. Ms. Mager’s environmental project assignments include Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II ESAs, asbestos inspections, and lead-based paint surveys.

Ms. Mager has managed and conducted several hundred Phase I ESAs in Iowa, Georgia, Florida and Nevada. Project sites have included proposed cellular tower sites, dry cleaning facilities, former gas station sites, auto detailing shops, auto repair facilities, former aluminum extrusion facilities, restaurants, commercial sites and undeveloped land. As a State of Iowa licensed asbestos inspector since 1999, Ms. Mager has managed and conducted numerous asbestos surveys for renovation and demolition projects for commercial and residential developers and state and local governmental agencies. Several of these projects also included lead-based paint and PCB surveys. In addition, to hazardous material surveys, Ms. Mager has conducted limited mold surveys for private and commercial clients.

Ms. Mager’s wetland experience includes managing and conducting numerous wetland
delineations and limited determinations in Iowa and Wisconsin for various commercial
and utility clients and state agencies. She also served as Program Manager for the NRCS
WRP Monitoring of 128 sites in northern Iowa and 81 sites in eastern Iowa.
